Better Balance in 2024! ONLINE Workshop

Balance gets harder as we age.  And unfortunately we begin falling more as we get older. But how do we prevent falls and improve our overall balance?  The key is yoga!

Yoga teaches us how to focus the mind to be less distracted, to pay attention to what is happening in the present moment.  That keeps us aware of our environment (the root in the woods that could trip us while we walk or the dog toy on the ground as we walk to our chair).  Learning to be present, noticing our surroundings, can help keep us safe, less “absent-minded” or distracted.   Being focused, being present, helps prevent falls.

Yoga also teaches us how to use our feet, our core muscles and our eyes to help keep us grounded and steady as we stand and move.  Practicing poses that help strengthen the body while also teaching us to balance is vital for our ongoing wellness.

This workshop will teach a number of yogic techniques to help strengthen physical balance (along with the added bonus of balancing our minds).  Some poses will be done sitting in a chair.  Others will be done standing with a chair nearby.  The more we practice techniques for balance, the stronger we become and hopefully less falls in the future.

Handouts of the sequences will be provided after the workshop so you can continue to practice at home.  This workshop is beginner-friendly, but will also be helpful for those who have been practicing yoga for years.

Note:  This is the same workshop as the in-person one on January 11th, but will be held online.  The cost is $25.  To sign up, send an email to Karen@YogaTherapyWithKaren.com.
